Nicole Vargas Guevara is Manager for Workers' Compensation for Stanford University with the Office of Risk Management part of Office of the Chief Risk Officer (OCRO). She is responsible for the overall program management of the Workers’ Compensation process at Stanford, partnering with departments and Human Resources as a means to reduce risk/liability and promote Return to Work & Stay at Work efforts related to workplace incidents/injuries.

Prior to joining Stanford Nicole worked for a small San Francisco based transportation company in Human Resources. She joined Stanford in 2005 with Residential & Dining Enterprises, in their Human Resource Office. During her 10 years with R&DE she gained valuable experience and working knowledge in various different levels of HR; with the last 4-years focusing primarily on Disability and Absence Management.  She has a combined total of 13 years of experience in this industry.

Nicole holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from St. Mary’s College of California, Moraga; and a certified Professional in Disability and Absence Management.
